I Was Just Inspired By My Own Blog

Yes, I am posting to my blog two times in about ten minutes. I am also about to be narcissistic. Don’t be a hater.

So, did you notice this nice new feature I added, where at the end of my posts it tells you about some other posts you might enjoy? Well, after hitting “publish” on my last post, I saw those links at the bottom and thought, “well well, you’re right, I might enjoy those!” so I clicked. I was reading through some old posts, chuckling about the good ol’ days (two months ago), when I stumbled upon this gem.

God, It Feels Great To Eat Good Food Again

Apparently, this was shortly after my tonsillectomy, and I was excited to be able to eat. So excited, that I decided to do nothing but eat the entire day.

First of all, I had poached eggs with toast and jam. And some Chobani with chia while I waited.

Then a veggie burger with a side of sweet potato.

Then yogurt, fresh berries, and granola.

Apparently after that I made some pumpkin quinoa muffins (holy CRUD these are delicious).

Then I whipped up some edamame, mushroom, and kale soup.

Last but not least, pita pizzas.

Excuse me? Whose blog is this?

I’m friggin’ INSPIRED!

I was just inspired by my own blog!!!

That is all. But considering that two nights ago, I was posting about how I hoped my blog had a purpose and I hoped that it enriched my life…

I am going to sleep well tonight.

Question: Have you ever been unexpectedly inspired by your own blog? (or your own work in some other field?)

  1. so awesome – I LOVE this. 😀

I keep a folder in my inbox of emails from readers, asking questions, telling me they loved a recipe or a story… those are my inspiration when I need it. 😀

that was an awesome post, all the food looks SO TASTY, and that poor pan. 😉 those quinoa muffins… YUM.

  2. Sarah says:

I love the recipe for the muffins. I’ve just cooked up a batch of quinoa so I might see what ingredients I have to make muffins. We don’t have canned pumpkin here but I just mash some up for recipes!
My blog is newish so I haven’t been inspired by a particular post but when ‘things’ get difficult I just think of the life I want to live and my blog helps me to remember that.

    • Christine says:

That’s exactly how I feel. My blog helps me remember what I want to be doing, the life I want to make sure I’m living. Excellent point!

  3. Hannah says:

That’s entirely wonderful! I want that linky thing now too… I wanna be inspired by me! 😉 😛

  4. This is awesome! YOU’VE inspired me!…and now I want muffins…;)

I don’t inspire myself from my blog. I’m feeling very down and out about it now and wondering what to do…I want to keep it and I feel that I can make something good of it and enjoy it…but I also have a lot of anxiety with it and judgements and I think, for some reason, it’s keeping me stuck in my binging behavior with food…and I can’t keep making myself sick like this. It’ s horrible.

    • Christine says:

Your blog is thought-provoking, and it probably helps more than you realize to just get the thoughts out of your head and onto the blog sometimes.

  5. I want those plugins! 😀 (But I can’t have them at WordPress.com, so maybe I’ll switch to another host some day. ;))

  6. Yes! So funny you say that because I’ve felt the same way when I’ve gone back over some of my old posts. Isn’t it hilarious how we can inspire ourselves? That’s really how it should be, right? I’m so happy you realized how much purpose your blog DOES have 🙂

P.S. We decided to stay away from Cars 2 for now – we heard it was a tad bit violent (i.e. blowing up cars, shoot em’ up style type of stuff) Let me know if you hear anything about it or see it. 🙂

    • Christine says:

Ooh, good call on Cars 2. I’ll read through the reviews this week. We’re going to be on a beach vacay soon and are planning to see it on one of the inevitable rainy days.

  7. Allie says:

You go girl! Those muffins sound DELISH.. share?!

  8. I often look at WIAW for food envy and inspiration!!!! I sometimes get lost in clicking my “you might also like” links!

  9. Ana F. says:

I just went to that post and you totally SHOULD be inspired. That food looks delicious! Especially the burger with pita bread – YUMMY!!!

  10. Haha, that’s cute! I can’t say I’ve been inspired by my own blog, but I haven’t gone back and read much…I think if I looked at my baked goods, I’d be motivated to make more =)

    Quinoa pumpkin muffins? Yum!

  11. Kelsey says:

hahah that’s awesome!! i love it–and you should be inspired, your food looks delicious! 🙂

If I’m feeling uninspired or am questioning the purpose of my blog, it is kind of nice to take a look at older posts. I guess it’s kind of a reminder of why I blog.

  12. lindsay says:

did you know your blog inspires us daily? Its real and that why we read! struggles and all. Looks delicious my friend.
    🙂

  13. I actually remember that post!!!! ❤ it was a good one for sure =)

ooh and to answer your question! when my canon died my husband gave me his canon elph to keep in my purse for emergency camera moments =) I have a lot of those moments and ALWAYS need one handy or I have a mini blogger panic attack! the big daddy camera is our 1 year wedding anniversary gift to ourselves. shared gift = lots of "NO! MINE!!!!" but we're learning to share. haha

  14. Allie says:

I come across old story openers or ideas I’ve jotted down in journals and get inspired all over again. And reading back over entries is always interesting, even if not inspiring! Pumpkin quinoa muffins?? I want one!

  15. Hey Christine! That is so funny – I like looking at old posts too just to see how far I’ve come!

  16. Oh totally! Looking through the past few years and how my blog has grown, I often feel inspired to keep going. I’m glad you did too :).

    • Christine says:

I love that you’ve been blogging so long. I need to stop by your blog and read some of your really old posts!

  17. Grace says:

I feel like I have such crazy emotions that when I am feeling down I can go look back and old posts and be like “see Grace you’re not a loser”:) But really I am so not sure if that counts!

    • Christine says:

Well jeez, Grace. A loser? You? Breaks my heart to hear you say that. You’re so far from being a loser. Just ask those kids you were playing with all week! Just ask Rob!

  18. Haha, this is awesome. Holy moly, pumpkin quinoa muffins sound AHMAYZING!!
