My garden. I had such hopes for it, but it has failed me. Or I have failed it. Or Mother Nature has failed us both. Here’s the status of what I planted in May:
Grape tomatoes — awesome
Regular tomatoes (two kinds) — growing but being eaten by a worm or something
Green bell pepper — so-so
Red bell pepper — nothing yet
Broccoli — never grew
Arugula — bolted
Parsley — pretty good
Chives — never grew
Crookneck Squash — harvested one squash, plant died
Basil — pretty good
Cilantro — died
Watermelon — two watermelon the size of a golf ball, there is hope!
I’ll take some pictures tomorrow and post them. We’ve had plenty of grape tomatoes, and they are delicious! We’ve had three large tomatoes ripen, but they have spots on them from being eaten by a worm or something. Into the trash they went! I’m really hoping we can get some good tomatoes. Mama needs a tomato sandwich!!!
I planted my garden about a month too late, and I didn’t till the soil before planting. I also didn’t fertilize. Sheesh, no wonder my garden didn’t do better!!! But I did what I could do during infant naptimes, right?
I may not have harvested the variety of vegetables I wanted, but if I can go out and pick some of these…
and some of these…
Mix it with some Trader Joe’s broccoli slaw and chickpeas to make a delicious and filling salad for lunch…
Well, if I can do that, then I’m pretty darned happy.
Maybe next year I can have more success with the broccoli and make my own broccoli slaw. 🙂
