Paris – Les (non) Photos

Is this thing on?

Oh look! It’s my blog!

What’s up guys? Not too much here. (<– lies)

So get this, I went to Paris for a week  and didn’t take a single picture.  Not only did I not take pictures, I hardly saw anything worth taking pictures of. You see, I was there for a work conference, so the entirety of my trip was spent inside my hotel, with the exception of a brief trip to the Monoprix (smaller than a Target but bigger than a drugstore) for gifts. And dinners. We did go out for dinners. Exceptionally delicious, exceptionally long dinners. But I didn’t do anything touristy and pretty much didn’t see anything in the daylight. You can blame that on my flight, but I’ll save that story for another day.

Did I see le Louvre?

Le Louvre

No.

The Arc de Triomphe?

The Arc de Triomphe

No. (Thank you to spell check for fixing Arc de Triumpfe, which is apparently not correct.)

Did I see le Tour Eiffel?

Le Tour Eiffel

Yes.  Well… sort of. It was behind a building so I could only see the top.

Walking back from dinner one night, I did see this one statue of colorful artichokes that I wanted to snap a photo of, but our taxi came and I was yelled at in French which just plain scares me, and I didn’t get to take it. But, thanks to the power of Google Images, I will simply show you someone else’s picture of what I saw.

Colorful Artichoke Statue in Paris

Isn’t that gorgeous???

Yes, folks, this was my trip to Paris. But don’t feel too bad for me. I had a great time. Well, except for the flight over. But like I said, that story has to wait for another day.

    PARIS!!!

I know how it is when you travel to cool places for work (thank GOODNESS for those expensed dinners though, right?).

    Think of it this way — if you had to go to a work conference well..I mean it was still in Paris. Could've been Detroit. (0;

I was ALL SORTS of jealous when I heard that you went to Paris, but am less jealous now because it sounds like it included a lot of work.
Wait. Who am I kidding? I'm still SUPER jealous. I just love being in Europe, whether I see anything or not!

  3. lindsay says:

oh paris….I miss that place. Glad you enjoyed it. We missed you.

  4. In Paris and no sights? Le horror. 😉
I haven't been to Paris since I was 16… but it was lovely. Though I did manage to get in trouble with the police for not keeping my metro ticket… long story!

  5. oh, no… I do hope the flight wasn't too incredibly bad…

I've never been, and very much want to go! As much as I love sleep, I probably would have been up in the middle of the night, at least to see the Eiffel 🙂

  6. Christine says:

Yes, Paris! Fortunately, my industry colleagues insist on conferring in places that are rich in culture and experience and great food. Next up, a return to San Francisco!

  7. Christine says:

    I missed you, too!

  8. Christine says:

Yeah, it's really fun to be there, even if it's for work. I thought of you at an event, when they had these little pieces of toast with chevre and honey on them, and a sign saying “Oui, Gluten Free!”

  9. Christine says:

The Eiffel lights up hourly and it's really spectacular (even if you can only see the top half!)

  10. Christine says:

Oh no, dealing with police in another country cannot be fun!

  11. Well, at least you can say that you went to Paris. And saw colorful artichokes. Not everyone can say that. 🙂

  12. Hannah says:

Who needs photos when you're breathing Paris' gorgeous amazing sugary air? (Well, I need the photos, but you don't 😛 ) So happy for you having a whirlwind trip, and hope the next is all fun, not work 😀

P.S. I totally, absolutely, really loved eating from Monoprix for dinner. I remember blogging about their frozen macarons 😛

  13. Oh man, now we have to hear the flight story!!

  14. mila says:

Wow.. Paris.. I'd really love to go there someday.
Too bad you didn't got the chance to take a tour around town, at least you kind of saw the Eiffel… I still envy you 🙂

  15. Now I'm just very intrigued about the flight story… lol

And it looks beautiful! I have sadly never been to Paris, but it's on my to-do list!

  16. Bwahahaha! A conference in Paris? That is tourture!

  17. GAHHHH I have a love/hate with work trips. Like you, I tend to spend most of my days inside and dinners out with colleagues I am indifferent about. BUT I can't imagine being in Paris and not getting to do anything touristy. =(

  18. Panda says:

Hey, at least there was good food!
